Accident, Incident and Near Miss Reporting and Investigation
The reporting of a near miss or accident is vitally important. This is to ensure that any suitable control measures are then reviewed or introduced to prevent recurrence. Failure to report a near miss or accident may result in a more serious incident occurring to someone else or an apparently minor injury becoming worse.
The aim of the investigation is to establish the immediate, underlying and root causes of the incident. This will help the company identify why the existing risk control measures failed and what improvements or additional measures are needed to prevent this from happening again.
This training course has been developed to provide managers/supervisors etc. with the necessary knowledge and awareness to be able to undertake an effective accident investigation.

Fire Warden
The Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 require businesses to nominate one or more competent persons (fire wardens) that will assist the responsible person (usually the employer) in the fire safety duties necessary to ensure a safe place of work.
This course is specifically designed for those employees who have been appointed as fire wardens. The course will provide them with the necessary information that will enable them to carry out the role effectively.

General Health and Safety Awareness

Health and Safety Training for Managers and Supervisors
Managers/supervisors are often promoted internally and sometimes do not possess the knowledge to enable them to effectively manage health and safety. As a manager/supervisor, you have additional responsibilities for the health and safety that cannot be overlooked.
The course provides an introduction to health and safety and the roles and responsibilities for new and existing managers/supervisors.

COSHH Awareness
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 states that, ‘Every employer who undertakes work which is liable to expose an employee to a substance hazardous to health shall provide that employee with suitable and sufficient information, instruction and training’.
This COSHH awareness training course has been developed to raise awareness of the different types of hazardous substances employees may come into contact with in the workplace and the control measures that exist to reduce the risk.

- The legal requirements relating to COSHH
- Ill health effects caused from exposure to hazardous substances
- COSHH assessments

Hazard Identification and Risk Control
The Management of Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2000 places a legal duty on employers to carry out suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the health and safety of employees and others when they are at work. Additionally, employers are legally required to provide their employees with suitable information and training on how to participate in the hazard identification and risk assessment process.
Hazard identification and risk assessment are essential processes for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. These processes aim to identify hazards and risks associated with work activities, evaluate their severity and likelihood, and enable management teams to implement effective control measures that will reduce the risk of injury and ill-health to employees and others.
This training course has been developed to provide employees with the necessary information and skills to conduct effective risk assessments and identify workplace hazards.

Manual Handling
Manual handling is defined as the transporting or supporting of a load by hand or bodily force by lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing or pulling. The items can be any size and weight.
Manual handling takes place in every type of workplace and industry, but most commonly in:
- Factories
- Warehouses
- Offices
- Construction sites
- Healthcare
Manual handling training is a legal requirement where risk assessment identifies any work activity that involves manual handling activities.
This manual handling training course provides learners with the information necessary to understand the hazards associated with manual handling in the workplace. The course teaches users how to prevent manual handling related injuries and how to perform correct lifting techniques that will minimise the risk of short and long term injuries.

- What is meant by manual handling.

Working at Height Awareness
The working at heights awareness training course is designed to help learners understand the hazards associated with working at height and the control measures necessary to minimise and control the risks.
This course is designed for employees who are exposed to these hazards as part of their work activities.

- What is meant by working at height.
- The legal responsibilities and the duties placed upon employers and employees.
- Working at height hazards
- The hierarchy of fall protection
- Control measures to reduce the risk of falls from height.
- The use of personal fall protection systems
